Swedish Pixels is written and produced by me, Joakim Hertze.
I’m a physician and soon-to-be psychiatrist, with a keen interest in conditions affecting cognition. I live in southern Sweden with my wife, two children and two cats. In my spare time I run and dream of completing a novel. I much prefer Hemingway to Proust. Also, I want to believe.
About this site
Swedish Pixels is mostly written on a 13-inch MacBook Pro, or an 20-inch iMac, mostly using MarsEdit. Every now and then I use my iPhone instead. WordPress handles the technicalities of publication1, on a server hosted by Powersurge. I use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Acorn for graphics and I track my visitors with Mint.
A quick note on language
Not long ago I wrote this site in Swedish. I decided to switch to English because–frankly–I need the practice. A lot of the archived texts are still in my native tongue.

Because at this point in life traveling by charter is simply more convenient. I can always walk to the next village for a genuine meal if I want to. ↩
